Travel

James and I travel a fair amount - as much as our budget and work commitments allow - and we only have a few hard rules; no big travel in the summer (we’re reverse hibernators), hold fast to a “when in Rome” philosophy and, when it comes to research, more heads are better than one.

Great websites for starting your travel research:

  • NYT Travel : Known for their 36 Hours and 52 Places features, the Times provides a tightly edited and broad-scope approach to travel. You’re also likely to find more off-the-beaten path locations, like my hometown of Mendocino County.

  • Travel + Leisure

  • Like A Local

  • Creme Guides

  • Suitcase Mag

  • Reddit : The platform requires a bit of digging and taking a lot of the advice/recommendations with huge grains of salt, but I have found Reddit to be an invaluable resource when researching destinations.
