Pastoral beauty and a deep connection to its heritage make Scotland an ideal place to explore. It’s classic escapism, both romantic and pragmatic.

Breathing new life into centuries-old pattern with a more modern sensibility is exciting challenge, with countless opportunities for experimentation.

  • While Scotland is famous for its tartans, it also has a rich history with paisley, a motif that earned its modern name from the eponymous manufacturing town in the 1800s.

  • Don’t forget florals, from classic chinoiserie, jacquard tapestries and loose, gestural depictions inspired by wild English gardens and Scotland’s pastoral beauty.

  • Look to hunting traditions and explore animal furs, scales and feathers.

  • Infuse classic pattern such as plaids, herringbone and houndstooth with pops of punchy color.

  • Mine for inspiration with a deep-dive into Queen Elizabeth’s foulard collection - look to modern interpretations from British designers like McQueen.
